Kern River

We took the opportunity to go to the Kern River on Monday since Ty had the day off. Instead of just playing in the river, we decided to take a hike up the mountain to a waterfall (it's been about 8yrs since Ty and I had hiked there). After 3 hrs of hiking we were there. Ty and JJ were the first to swim across to the fall. Ty then took Ian across and back, then he took me and then Ian again. The water was very cold, but at the same time very refreshing. It took only 1 1/2hrs to get back to the car. Ty carried Luke both ways. Ian did great on the way up the mountain, hiking all by himself, but on the way back JJ carried him. After the hike we made our way back to Kernville to have lunch at the park.

Fun! It's always nice to get away from reality and the heat for a little bit

It was still really hot, I think that's what made the ice cold water feel so good :)

Is that Salmon Falls? It's been so long, I can't tell.

Yes it is! That's pretty good considering how long it has to have been! The lower waterfall wasn't quite as green as normal, and the water is coming from a different part of the upper waterfalll now.
